They built as the season progressed and peaked when it mattered come finals time.
The team that represented the Hornets in the Opens T4L22 final consisted of Mervin Liang, Jake Sharpley, Ben Hope, Courtney Slater and Kyle Fensbo. Col Cowell and Ben Frazer were carrying injuries so sat the final out which gave Courtney the opportunity she well deserves. A solid team with a diverse range of skillsets.
Mervin in particular crushed with three tops and a zone 2 on the night and we're glad he moved down from Brisbane. However, it was the mateship and genuine support of one another from all players that was truly evident throughout the event. Ben helped out as coach of the High School Hornets in the lead up to the final and all are familiar friendly faces in the community.
The Hornets were running in third throughout the regular season and came together nicely in the final to finish second behind the Badgers who were simply too good on the night.
Well done to the green team - you've done yourselves and the club proud.
