The T4 GPA is our equivalent of the golf handicap - a current snapshot of a player's grade capacity defined by a unified standard.
The golf HC is simple terms is determined by a large amount of data over a period of time. It allows players to track their progression by way of unified industry standard. When a golfer nails a hole-in-one, she isn't now pro golfer. In fact, it would have little effect on her handicap. It's fair and equitable and makes good sense. The 'batting average' for a cricketer is an important statistic regardless of the format. A PB / highest score is interesting but it's not an all- defining metric.
The T4 Boulder League has followed suit.
It defines a set standard which is localised to each specific gym / location. Players record their best four scores over a 60 min period to define a round score just like golf does over 18 holes. A minimum of three rounds in the current season determine the player's Local GPA. Do this repeatedly over multiple seasons and you'll see a true reflection of where you're at by way of genuine capacity.
It's really just a system of integrity rather than guessing around the 'hardest grade you've done'. In golf terms - that's like hitting a hole-in-one and calling yourself a pro - and we all know that aint right.
