Round 5 in A Grade was brought forward to align to the Autumn Boulder Festival - a single round event to introduce new players to the sport.  And a solid game it was with the Hornets v Donkeys.

Both teams fielded strong teams with Simon Stehle on debut for the Hornets and Troy Clark making his debut for the Donkeys.  With Mervin Liang back on deck the Hornets had every right to feel optimistic heading into this game.

The two teams were neck and neck in the first half withe the Donkeys slightly ahead on Boulder A and the Hornets ahead on Boulder B.  Teams went into half time with the scoreboard at 42 - 42.

However, the Donkeys gained the lead on a tough finishing black wood Boulder C and extended the lead on Boulder D.  The end score was 71 - 60 to the Donkeys with both sides taking plenty of positive out if it.

Nikala Murray's leadership was clearly felt and Fred and Cooper were at their optimal best as they're both heading to youth nationals next next.  The Donkeys are now on top of the ladder but have played one more game than the Badgers.

The Hornets were close and always in the chase.  Whilst still winless in the season it feels like it's only a matter of time as the team performance is improving each round.

A Grade has a break now till round six on 6 May.
