The Hornets kicked of the A Grade season last night. Not the result we were looking for but there was plenty of positive to take from the game. The Donkeys won 358 - 284 in the end.
Col Cowell led the team in the absence of Ben Hope and did a might fine job of it. When Lachie French moved past zone 1 on Boulder B and came off the finish an upset was on the horizon. The team just couldn't seem to capitalize on this moment though and went into half time very even on the scoreboard.
Col came out as breaker on Boulder C and performed a stacked knee bar finish perfectly. However, Mervin finished just after the time (so it didn't count dammit) and the team just could capitalise on this.
Clancy Gibson performed well in his first ever exposure to this format with a memorable finish on Boulder A. Kyle Fensbo and Mervin Liang were solid and Lachie French also had a good night.
Plenty to work on and plenty to be proud of team. Well done. Bring on the Badgers in round 3 next week.
