James Vilimaa and Sasha Gerzha are two people who have played significant roles in the development of the sport in our region. We now pay tribute to that by renaming two of our competitions in their honour.
The A grade competition is the highest level of competition in Tamworth and will now be known as the Gerzha Cup. Sasha is a professional rock climber and his credentials are globally recognised. As fate would have it, Sasha joined our community in early 2018 and he taught a number of key members in our community the art of the trade and helped develop the facility. That was the splash and the ripples are now widespread so this competition is named in his honour.
James Vilimaa (JV) is quiet hero of our community and was with us from the very beginning in March 2017. His passion, skillset and love of rock climbing helped lay the foundations for what the Tamworth community is today. At the end of each regular season we host a one-off event for the youth which will now be named the Vilimaa Cup. It runs four times per year and it's pathway for the more competitively inclined at the end of each regular T4 social competition.
Every story has important chapters and these two gentlemen have played significant roles in our history. Thank you both for what you've done for our community.
